Yoga Basics: An Introductory Workshop

Our Yoga Basics workshop is our way of welcoming brand-new yogis into the practice and into the Be Well Studios community. Together we will break down fundamental yoga postures and basic flow, terminology, and general class structure.  Students who have never practiced yoga before, or who consider themselves beginners, will find this 60-minute workshop supportive in transitioning to other classes. This workshop is free, however, donations will be accepted in support of The Kalamazoo Humane Society Food Bank.

Energy Basics for Caregivers

Saturday, January 18, 9 am to 4 pm; $60 before January 1 ($75 after January 1)

Energy work can help your clients relax.  It can reduce stress, balance the body, or alleviate pain.  This one-day introduction to sensing and using energy will provide a basic overview of theories of energy healing and the human energy system.  You will learn and practice simple techniques which you can use in regular contacts with your clients, or in any formal or informal caregiving setting, as well as for your own self-care.  Participants remain fully clothed and your hands are the only essential equipment.  Basic energy techniques can be used by parents and other family caregivers, massage therapists, health care providers, and chaplains and pastors.

Reiki Level 1

Sunday, January 19, 9 am to 2 pm; $125

Obtain your Reiki Certification at Be Well Studios with Reiki Master Teacher Jackie Drake. To be certified as a Reiki Master, participants must complete three levels (or degrees) of certification.  In our traditional Usui First Degree Reiki (Level 1) class, participants will learn about Reiki, Reiki history and how Reiki works. We will also explore treatment techniques for self and others, receive Level 1 Attunement, and participate in a group Reiki practice session. $125. Registration is required.

Natural Self-Care for Mood Disorders

Tarot Basics: An Intro to Tarot

Saturday, January 25 at 10:30 am; $15

Curious about exploring Tarot but not sure where to begin? Join us for this light-hearted introduction of how to use Tarot cards for introspection and deeper self-awareness. Discussion will include an overview of the deck, basic spreads, and how to use the cards to connect with your inner guides. We will also provide a list of resources and opportunities to further your study after class. Registration is requested.

Natural Self-Care for Autoimmune Diseases

March 24 and 31, 1 to 2:30 pm; $40

There are many different naturopathic approaches to autoimmune disease that can be effective, including diet, food-sensitivity testing and supplements. All of them involve putting the patient in charge of his or her own healthcare.  The best modality of care for autoimmune patients is a cooperative approach between MDs and NDs to determine the root cause of the disease and then treat the resulting effects.  Registration is requested.

Natural Self-Care for Gut Health, Part 1

September 22 and 29; 1 to 2:30 pm; $40

The incredible complexity of the gut and its importance to our overall health is a topic of increasing research in the medical community. Numerous studies in the past two decades have demonstrated links between gut health and the immune system, mood, mental health, autoimmune diseases, endocrine disorders, skin conditions, and cancer. Registration is requested.

Natural Self-Care for Gut Health, Part 2

October 20 and 27; 1 to 2:30 pm; $40

We will continue learning about how pathogenic microbes take hold of our GI tract and overall health.  We will discuss how to determine and address the root cause of gut issues rather than focusing on symptom management. Registration is requested.
